1:50th Scale Freightliner Century with Brenner Chemical Tanker

Freightliner Century with Brenner Chemical Tanker

Presented here is the Freightliner Century tractor with Brenner chemical tanker in the distinctive orange livery of Schneider National haulage company. The rear of the model has a working fifth wheel coupling with sprung loaded release lever. The fifth wheel can be adjusted depending on the trailer being connected and the air and electrical service lines are present which fit into the holes on the trailer. The single exhaust stack is fitted behind the cab with flexible rubber side panels and grab rails added. Etched walkway panels are added to the sides and rear of the tractor which is another nice touch and really finishes off the realistic appearance. Authentic rubber tyres, working suspension and flexible rubber mud guards, complete with Schneider markings finish off the rear of the model.

The Century tractor with sleeper cab features a removeable roof section which reveals the internal sleeping compartment including lower bed complete with quilt and pillow, upper fold up bed and simulated carpet texture on the floor. The driver and passenger seats are sprung loaded and can be moved forward, just like on the real truck while side and front fender mounted mirrors are provided in the box which need fixing to the model.

The front wheels have an authentic Michelin tread pattern with working steering and the cab doors can be opened to reveal the internal cab detail and simulated wooded dashboard complete with reproduced guages and dials.

The Brenner chamical tanker has a chrome finish and authentic Schneider National markings have been added throughout. The front of the tanker has the hook up points for the air and electrical lines and the trailer legs can be raised / lowered by rotating them and the screw thread is hidden inside which is another great touch.

Another great touch on the model is the opening storage tubes on each side of the trailer. The only thing missing is the frexible rubber hoses that would normally be found inside the tubes. The rear wheels on the trailer are fully reproduced with working suspension and air hose details run the length of the trailer. The authentic hazard warning on the rear of the tanker finished off another supperb model

There are two versions of the model available. The Schneider National liveried version (reviewed here) and the standard Red version are both limited to 500 pieces and were released in December 2006
